Welcome to the memorial page for

Daniel Terry

September 4, 1941 ~ November 8, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Mr. Daniel Terry, age 76, resident of Dillon, South Carolina, son of Charlie Tarry and Mary Francis Curtis Tarry. He was born September 4. 1941 in Oxford, North Carolina. Daniel grew up in the state of North Carolina. He departed this life of natural causes on November 8, 2017 due to a thoracic aneurysm with rupture and massive hemorrhage while helping a neighbor.

Daniel was a loving and devoted father to his daughter Caryn Terry who is a resident of New Jersey and his son Daniel Terry, Jr. who resides in Pennsylvania.

Daniel confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and made his dedication to Christ at the Island Hill Congregational Christian Church in Clarksville, Virginia. He attended Georgia Clayton Shaw Elementary School in Stovall, North Carolina through the eighth grade and continued educating himself after he left school.

Daniel was united in holy matrimony to Delores Peterson Terry on April 12, 1974. To this union one was born a daughter Caryn Terry.

Daniel relocated to Morristown, New Jersey in the mid sixties and settled in as a long time resident of Denville, New Jersey. He worked over 25 years for the Morris County Road Department. Daniel was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. He found the most joy in helping others, was a loyal friend, and his southern charm made everyone feel welcome in his life. Daniel was a self made man who was honest, hard working and believed no task was too difficult for him to master. He managed his own personal business mowing lawns in the summer and snow removal in the winter. Many days he would cut the grass and remove snow of neighbors and friends from the goodness of his heart. He was a mechanic and repaired any piece of equipment he used including his cars and trucks. He was known all over as a Samaritan who would not leave any stranger in distress on the highway. He truly walked with God each day.

Daniel purchased his retirement home in Dillon, South Carolina in the fall of 2012. He chose to live near his cousin Bessie Rumble in Dillon. He quickly came to know her neighbors and community. There are so many neighbors in Dillon who loved and respected him. They fondly called him Mr. Dan, describing him as a "man's man," and sharing how much he meant to them with the phrase "we love him with all our hearts." Many tears were shed because of the loss of their beloved Mr. Dan.

Daniel leaves cherished memories to his daughter Caryn Terry and son Daniel Terry, Jr. His mother Frances Tarry, three sisters: Mary Helen Tarry,  Nannie Beth Marrow, Martha Jane Butler and two brothers: Clarence Tarry, and William Preston Tarry. His father Charlie A. Tarry preceded him in death. He also leaves a host of relatives and many friends.
