Obituary
"When the Saints go marching in, I want to be in the number!"
Bill joined that number on the morning of Friday, July 30, 2015 at the Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina. William Charles McCormick, known to everyone as "Bill" was born in Hamer, South Carloina on March 21, 1936 to the late Manner Alford and Bessie McCormick.
Bill attended school in Hamer, South Carolina. He was married to Mary Ella Hamilton and from this union four children were born. The oldest daughter, Sherry Jones preceded him in death.
Bill confessed Christ as his Savior at an early age and joined St. Matthew African Episcopal Church. Bill loved his church.
At the time of Bill's passing he had been singing for over 69 years. He founded a group named the Southern Six and sang with many other groups. His life was working and singing gospel music. He worked at Fieldcrest Yarn for 25 years.
Bill said that his home church was a large church. He decided that he wanted to work in a smaller church where he could lend a helping hand. Bill began working at Beulah United Methodist Church where he helped with the choir and any other area where he was needed. Bill never forgot his home church or his first two pastors.
