Mr. Thomas Mearite entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, South Carolina. Thomas (Tom) Jr. Mearite quietly slipped away to be with his Master on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Born in Dillon, South Carolina on May 10, 1940, Tom was the first child of the late James Thomas and Loma Knox Mearite. Tom's final days were spent with family and friends. We remember Tom as being a very well spoke man and those who were touched by him understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His kind heart brought so much joy to him family and friends. Tom gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness or life. He loved to just sit and talk and show the young folks that he could still cut a rug every once in a while. One of his favorite sayings was, "Don't worry, be happy." Tom's life will not be forgotten along with his sister Ella Mae Johnson and LC Merite who precedes him in death. Tom leaves to cherish his memories, his son, James Thomas Mearite of Dillon, SC two daughters; Joyce Ann Mearite of Dillon, South Carolina and August Anderson of McColl, SC; four brother TJ (Leilla) Mearite of High Point, NC, Jerry (Nettie) Mearite of Thomasville, NC, John Willie Mearite of Greensboro, NC, Johnny Arthur Mearite of Mullins, SC; for sisters; Vera Jennings of Dillon, SC, Willie Mae Crawford of Dillon, SC, Sally Mae Mearite of Dillon, SC, and Annie Dean Lloyd of Dillon, SC, his uncle; Levander Mearite of Bennettsville,SC, six grandchildren; Astrid, Tracey, Jasmine, Je'Mi, Jacob, and Dalaysiah; two step children; Gloria McAllister of McColl, SC and Antonio (Barbara) Andreson of Marion, SC, three aunts, Annette Gawson of Hartsville, SC, Sheryl and Bessie Mearite both of Dillon, SC, one close and special friend Mary R. Andreson, and a devoted companion, Hannah Mae McLellan, a host of loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Visitation for Mr. Thomas Mearite will take place on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 12:00 noon until 7 p.m. The family will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. in the Preston Greene, Jr. Memorial Chapel. Funeral services for Mr. Mearite will be conducted on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Pine Hill A.M.E. Church in Latta, South Carolina. Final Resting place will be in the Resthaven Cemetery in Latta, South Carolina. The family will receive friends at 112 Cannon Court Apartment D-5 in Dillon, South Carolina.
