Obituary
Mrs. Sharon Rena Covington McTeer daughter of the late Velma Lee and Doug Covington was born on September 24, 1957 in Dillon, South Carolina and departed this life on Monday, January 7, 2013 in the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina after a brief illness.
Sharon was a 1975 graduate of Dillon High School and attended St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Sharon was a faithful member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities on the local, district, and conference levels. Sharon 's joy and passion was her work with the United Methodist Women. Sharon was employed by First Citizens Bank for twenty-one years and greeted her customers with a smile each day. Sharon was also a faithful and dedicated member of the Greene's Funeral Home Staff. Sharon will be missed by her family, her church and her community.
Sharon was united in holy matrimony to Vernoy McTeer and to this thirty – five year union two children were born: Vernoy Keith and Jennifer Jere.
Sharon leaves fond memories to be cherished by her husband of thirty-five years Vernoy, her children Keith (Rachelle), and Jennifer, five brothers, Kevin Covington of Dillon, South Carolina, Timothy ( Valerie) of Dillon, South Carolina, Carl (Paula) Covington of Dillon, South Carolina, Karl (Keisha) Covington of Marion, South Carolina, Christopher Covington of Dillon, South Carolina, five sisters, Rosena Armstrong of Marion, South Carolina, Everlena (Carlos) Washington of Florence, South Carolina, Cathy (Frank) Charles of Quinby, South Carolina, Vanessa Covington of Florence, Penny Lessie Gerald of Dillon, South Carolina, and Tammy Covington of Dillon, South Carolina, special sisters, Ja-Novice Greene-Richardson and Blanche McTeer both of Dillon, South Carolina, two grandsons Jordan McTeer and Jaiden DuBose who were her pride and joy. One brother-in-law Benjamin W. McTeer, III many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. McTeer will be conducted on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from the St. Stephens United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Barry McFadden officiating.
Final resting place will be in the Resthaven Cemetery in Dillon, South Carolina.
Visitation for Mrs. McTeer will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Preston Greene, Jr. Memorial Chapel at Greene's Funeral Home, L.L.C. The McTeer family will receive friends during this time. There will not be a public viewing for Mrs. McTeer however, the guest register will be available for signing from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
The family will receive friends at 304 East Calhoun Street in Dillon, South Carolina.
