Mr. Levander Murphy, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 1, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 5, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at the Hazy Grove Baptist Church in Hamer,SC. The family will receive friends at 2738 Highway 301 North in Hamer, SC. Mr. Levander Murphy, Sr.,son of the late George (Sr.) and Lelia Dunson Murphy, was born in Dillon County on May 9, 1936, and departed this life on February 1, 2010 at home after an extended illness. He attended the public schools of Dillon County. He served faithfully on the Trustees, Usher, and Men's Conference Boards at Hazy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to the late Maggie Jane Brown Murphy on December 24, 1961. He leaves to cherish fond memories six children: Maggie (James) Dunham, Carolyn (Vincent) Samuel, Levander, Jr.(Tonia) Murphy, Cassaundra (Dexter) Harlee, Vera (Reggie) Thompson, amd Michael Murphy; fifteen grandchildren: Konisha, DeVincent (Latasha) Jamison, Quinn, Tene, She'Neka, Dyea, Titus, L'Twane, Shate, Jamesa, Michaela, Shaffie, Taylor, and Quadray; four great-grandchildren: Shenika, Mekiaylah, Hailey, Kamren, three sisters: Geneve Buie, Beulah Hester, and Maggie Murphy; two brothers: Rufus (Ophelia) and Randolph (Darletha) Murphy; a sister-in-law, Mae Washington; a very dear friend, Annie R. Johnson, and a special family (The McCoys); and a host of other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by eight siblings and a grandchild, Jonas. There comes a time when words can not express the feelings within our heart, we will always remember the expressions of love, the gifts of devotion, the acknowledgement of your kindness, thoughtfulness and the prayers of hope given to us at our time of bereavement.
