Funeral Service for Mr. John C. Woods will be conducted on Saturday September 6, 2014 at Pine Hill AME Church in Latta, SC at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. John Calvin Woods, Sr. son of the late Ralph Woods and Mattie Mae Morrison Woods was born on November 6, 1949 in Dillon County South Carolina and departed this life on Sunday, August 31, 2014 in Washington, D.C..

Mr. Woods was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in earlier years. He was employed by Perking Construction and worked in the Shipping and Receiving department for twenty plus years. He loved baseball and was coach for the Carolina Pirates. He also sang with the Southern Bell Group. He loved sports and his favorite team was the Washington Red Skins.

Left to cherish fond memories are fifteen children. Eight sons Michael McInnis and John McInnis both of Latta, South Carolina, Charles (Viola) Woods, Johnny Woods, Jeffrey Woods, and Joseph Brown all of Dillon, South Carolina, John Woods, Jr., of Washington, D.C.., James Woods of Florence, South Carolina, and one step son Anthony Coles of Washington, D.C.. Six daughters Helen McInnis and Shelia Woods both of Dillon, South Carolina, Jernare (Robert) Douglas and Jernene (Leonard) Alexander of Columbia, South Carolina, Tonya (James) Abraham of Florence, South Carolina and Jessica Sauls of Washington, D.C.. Five sisters Francine Miles, Earlene McRae and Katie Woods all of Dillon, South Carolina, Carolyn (James Willie) Bethea of Hamer, South Carolina and Katie (Jack) McDuffie of Washington, D.C. Forty-six grand children and a host of great grand children, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
