Ethel Jane McLeod-Palmer was born on August 3, 1925 to the late Macy and Hector McLeod. She departed this life on Sunday, February 8, 2015. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband James Frank Palmer, a daughter Mary McRae and two sons: Walter and James Willie Palmer.
Ethel obtained her early education in the Dunbar School System. Ethel left Dillon to pursue a career in New York where she was a nurse in Kings County Mental Institution. Kings County is also where Ethel ended her career and began her retirement. While living in New York Ethel was a member of St. John Holiness Church where she served on the Usher Board.
Ethel leaves to cherish fond memories her four grand-daughters Joyce (Larry) Manning of the home, Janice McLean, Joan McRae all of Dillon, South Carolina and Syreeta (Ace) Barfield of Lumberton, North Carolina. An adopted son Billy Joe (Mary) Clark of Goldsboro, North Carolina. One son-in-law John Luther McRae and one brother-in-law, John Willie McQueen. A special grandson she raised as her own Dentron McRae of the home, thirteen great grand children, nine great-great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral Services for Ms. Ethel Jane McLeod -Palmer were held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from the Reedy Creek Missionary Baptist Church in McColl, South Carolina. Burial followed in the St. Mary Cementery in DIllon, South Carolina.
