Mr. Colon Dudley son of the late Harry and Clara Peterkin Dudley, was born on September 9, 1922 in Marlboro County, South Carolina and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, S.C. Colon Dudley was converted at an early age and joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Little Rock, South Carolina and later joined St. Mark Baptist Church, Dillon, South Carolina; where he served on the Deacon Board. He loved to sing even though he never joined the choir. Colon was a great family man, he loved farming and gardening. He enjoyed his family just sitting laughing, talking, and giving words of wisdom. On November 5, 1944 Colon Dudley and the late Catleen Price Dudley were united in holy matrimony. To this union ten children were born: Margaret Swan, of Connecticut; Priscilla (Larry) of Hinesville, Georgia; Naomi (James) Sellers of Columbus, Georgia; Colon Jr. (Martha) of Latta, South Carolina; Gabriel (Doris) of Dillon, South Carolina,Michael of the home Walter (Anita) of Dillon, South Carolina; Dennis (Alice) of Marion, South Carolina; Ronnie of the home, Ernest of Missouri, and Crystal (James) raised in the home. Thirty-grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, four sisters: Tommy Jane McCormick of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Inez Standard of Dillon, South Carolina; Teresa (Robert)McRae of Dillon, South Carolina;and Evelyn Bethea of Stanford, Connecticut; three brothers: Thomas (Pal) Dudley, Robert(Rachel) Dudley and James Adams all of Dillon, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special friend Mrs. Ida Mae McRae. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at New Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church at in Dillon, SC. at 2:00 p.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
