Obituary

Mr. Clifton Crosland entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 30, 2011 in the McLeod Medical Center Dillon after an illness. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7 Clifton Crosland, was born on August 30, 1944 in Marion County and departed his life on June 30, 2011 at his home. He was the son of Ila Mae Crosland and the late James Crosland. He attended Dillon Public Schools. He played football and was a member of the boxing team at Gordon High School. After a total knock-out by Cliff during a boxing match, boxing was no longer allowed at Gordon High. Cliff worked at Dillon Veneer Mill and CSX Railroad for several years then he moved to New York and worked at a Glass Company for several years before he returned to Dillon, SC. He was a hard worker for his community and for anyone who needed help in cutting grass, gardening, and even just walking to the store to pick up something until he was not able to do it any more. He was a member of Manning Baptist Church and was a faithful member until his health failed. He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Mae Crosland and his father James Crosland, sister Dorothy Mae Crosland, and grand child Jasmine Crosland. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his mother Ila Mae Crosland, Dillon, SC; one son Clifton Crosland of the home, one daughter Theresa Crosland (Jack), Dillon, SC, four brothers; James Crosland, Henry (Helen) Crosland, Robert Lee (Helen) Crosland and Willie Lee Crosland all of Dillon, SC, one sister, Mary Jane (John) Robinson of Patterson New Jersey; mother-in-law, Sweetie Mae Wright, four sisters-inlaw, Sue Ann Wright, Hilda Wright, Leslie (Ronald) Alford, Reginette Wright all of Dillon, SC; five brothers-in-law, James Wright, Adolph Wright, Glenn Wright, Johnny (Alice) Wright of Dillon, SC, Philip Wright of Trenton New Jersey; one aunt, Gerogia Crosland of Durham North Carolina; eight grandchildren, TyQuan, Malisha, Nykeivia, Damond, Da'Chron, Camari Jhiquez, Natarra; one great grand, Ke'iah Crosland, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from the Manning Baptist Church in Dillon, South Carolina with the Rev. Frankie Thomas officiating. Final resting place for Mr. Clifton Crosland will be in the Resthaven Cemetery in Latta, South Carolina. The family will receive friends at 1417 Lincoln Street in Dillon, South Carolina.
