Mr. Benjamin W. McTeer, Jr. Owner/Operator of M & M Hair and Beauty Supply Store in Dillon, S.C. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 10, 2011 in the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Dillon, South Carolina. The family will receive friends at 1208 North Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Dillon, South Carolina. Benjamin Walter McTeer, Jr. son of the late Rev. Walter and Annie McTeer, Sr. was born in Colleton County on April 13, 1928 and departed this life on Sunday, April 10, 2011 in the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Dillon, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Walterboro, South Carolina and graduated from South Carolina State College with a degree in agriculture. He also obtained a Master's Degree from Appalachian State University in industrial art. He taught in the Dillon School District Two for thirty-four years with a stint in the United States Army Wedged in. Ben was married to the late Eloise Davis McTeer and to this union two children were born Benjamin, III and Vernoy. Ben and Eloise spent 53 years together before she was called to her heavenly home. After retirement from the school system, Ben and Eloise opened M & M Hair and Beauty Supply Store in Dillon, South Carolina where they welcomed clients and friends with a smile, a hug, and a Life Saver lolipop. Ben was a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church where he held many, many offices. His most recent positions were an adult Sunday school teacher, member of the United Methodist Men, an usher, and he sang of the male and combine choirs. His early years of community service included Leader of Boy Scouts and coaching Little League baseball along with other community activities. Ben was a member of the Dillon School District Two Board for numerous years. He was an active member of Euclid Lodge #19 where he held the position of secretary. Left to cherish fond memories are two sons Benjamin III, and Vernoy (Sharon) both of Dillon, S.C. five grand children Tiffany Ervin, Keith (Rachelle) McTeer, Shantel McTeer all of Dillon, S.C. and Jennifer McTeer of Darlington, S.C. Four great-grands Jamez, Shantese, Jordan, and Jaiden all of Dillon, S.C. one sister-in-law Dorothy D. Greene of Dillon, S.C. one brother-in-law Cicero C. Davis, Jr. of Youngstown, Ohio. Five nieces Genevieve Shelton, Ja-Novice Greene-Richardson, Angela Smith, Lisa Darton, and Charlette Davis; four nephews Preston Greene, III, Cicero Davis, III, Lorenzo Bethea, Drew Darton, and Corey Davis, a special daughter Blanche McTeer; and a god-daughter Bertha Manning, and other relatives and friends. If you are ever around his former Gordon High School students and you hear them talking about "Mr. Mac" or "Chief" they are affectionately talking about Mr. Benjamin McTeer. Funeral Services for Mr. McTeer will be conducted on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 beginning at 3 pm from the St. Stephens United Methodist Church located at 701 North 1st Avenue in Dillon, South Carolina. Final Resting Place will be in the Resthaven Cemetery in Latta, South Carolina
