We sadly regret the passing of Willie S. Evans of Dillon SC. Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 14th 2017 at Miller Chapel AME Zion in Little Rock SC. The burial will be at Roadside Cemetery (Riverdale Community). Friends can visit the family at 1515 Preston Drive Dillon SC.
Obituary
Willie Samuel Evans, the son of the late Johnny & Tressa Evans, was born on September 15, 1932 in Dillon SC. God called him home on Saturday April 8, 2017.
At an early age he accpeted the Lord Jesus Chrit into his life. He was faithful and dedicated member of Miller's Chapel AME Zion Church of Little Rock SC until his health began to fail. He also attended the Dillon County Public Schools.
Throughout the years, he was recognized for his lovely garden and having the largest vegetables grown by his hands. He retired after many dedicated years of work with Dillon Highway Department. He was also an Army Veteran, serving our country for many years.
On February 8, 1959, he married Lena Mae Pompey, and to this union 4 children were born & one child that was reared by them.
He was preceded in death by his parents & one brother Isaac Toney. He leaves to cherish found memories: His wife Lena Mae Evans. 5 daughters: Sandra Evans (the late Willie) Page, Audrey (Charles) Hart, Cindy Evans Adams all of Dillon SC, and Linda (William) McMillan of Southern Pines NC, and Felicia Townsend of Fayetteville NC. 9 sisters: Susie J. (the late Abraham, Sr.) Jones, Treathea (Willie B.) Bethea, Lottie (James) Peterkins, Priscilla Bethea all of Dillon SC, Ophelia (Stephen) Bethea of Bronx NY, Dora B. McRae of Ewing NJ, Thelma (the late Hamer) Porter of Trenton NJ, Sallie (George, Sr.) Henderson of Westampton NJ and Minnie Evans of Hamilton NJ. 2 brothers: Oliver J. (Doris) Evans and Larry (Rev. Sandra) Evans both of Dillon, SC. One aunt: Lula Mae Salmon Pernell of Dillon SC. One sister-in-law Edella Breeden of Patterson NJ and one brother-in-law James (Effie) Pompey of Philadelphia PA. 9 Grandchildren: Travis (Wanda), Rashawn (Kimberly), Shamaree, Cingreca, Lakeisha, CJ, Shanice, Marquise and Xandra. 7 Great Grands: Makayla, Zachariah, Aniyah, Messiah, Zaire, Zy'Kiera and Antonio, and a host of family and friends.
